Each year, the Central Penn Business Journal honors professionals within the healthcare field with the “Health Care Heroes” awards. This year, we are excited to announce that Innovo Detox Executive Director Molly Ashcroft, CADC, was honored as a 2022 Health Care Hero by the Central Penn Business Journal in the Mental Health Hero category.
The Health Care Heroes awards are designed to recognize excellence, promote innovation, and honor the efforts of organizations and individuals making a significant impact on the quality of health care in the Central PA region of state of Pennsylvania. The Central Penn Business Journal puts out calls for nominations for the Health Care Heroes awards to professionals within the Central Pennsylvania area of the state asking to nominate a deserving health care professional. Healthcare professionals are nominated and then must submit a detailed application that includes letter of recommendation for consideration. In 2022, the Central Penn Business Journal awarded health care hero honorary status in the following categories:

- Allied Health Hero
- Community Outreach
- COVID-19 Hero
- Lifetime Achievement
- Mental Health Hero
- Nurse Hero
- Physician Assistant of the Year
- Senior Care Hero
Innovo Detox Executive Director Molly Ashcroft was honored in the Mental Health Hero category, alongside co-honoree Zeeshan Faruqui, MD, of Keystone Behavioral Health. Molly was recognized for her overall leadership at Innovo Detox, her ability to navigate the organization through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, and her impact as a professional in the field of addiction, mental health, and co-occurring treatment. Also included in the Central Penn Business Journal’s process for honoring Molly as a health care hero were her support of mentorship within the behavioral health and addiction treatment field for young professionals and women, her tireless dedication to giving back to the community and helping others struggling with addiction, and several letters of recommendation on her behalf from healthcare professionals and colleagues.
On learning about being honored as a 2022 Central Pennsylvania Health Care Hero, Molly said, “I think everyone who has worked in the field of healthcare during the pandemic are heroic. I am humbled to have been selected for this honor, but this is truly the result of working alongside the absolute dream team of a staff that we have at Innovo Detox.” Always gracious, she continued by saying, “I believe when you work as a team and put the care and safety of patients as the top priority, amazing results can happen.”
