Innovo Detox, located in Abbottstown, Pennsylvania, is pleased to welcome Denise Connelly, LCSW-C, MAC, CAC-AD, ACRPS, as our new Clinical Supervisor! Denise joins the Innovo Detox team with over 24 years of experience in the addiction, recovery, and co-occurring fields, in positions of clinical supervisory and program leadership. She is a Licensed Certified Clinical Social Worker and supervisor (LCSW-C), a nationally certified Master Addiction Counselor, a Certified Associate Counselor- Alcohol and Drug (CAC-AD), and an Advanced Certified Relapse Prevention Specialist (ACRPS.)
Receiving her Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Work from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, Denise went on to receive a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Maryland at Baltimore School of Social Work. She entered the behavioral healthcare field in 1998 as a clinician, and has worked as a therapist, family therapist, clinical supervisor training coordinator, program facilitator, and program director.
Since 2014, Denise worked in various roles at the nationally renowned co-occurring treatment program The Retreat at Sheppard Pratt. She started at The Retreat as the Co-Occurring Disorders Program Facilitator, creating and overseeing the co-occurring disorders program at the facility, before joining the Retreat leadership team in 2020 and eventually serving as the Program Director. In that role, she was responsible for carrying out all duties and responsibilities of the program for the Retreat’s residential program, group homes, and outpatient continuum of services.
As a clinician, Denise works from a strengths-based perspective, helping patients acknowledge and build on their strengths. She helps facilitate transformational change in their lives of her patients through education and activities aimed at increasing the knowledge and coping skills necessary to prevent relapse and maintain long-term recovery from addictions and mental health issues. Above all, Denise believes wholeheartedly that treatment works, and that recovery is possible.
“I’ve admired the Innovo Detox team from afar since they opened in 2020,” Denise explained. “I am fortunate to have the opportunity to work with them and help those we serve break the chain of addiction and get on the road to recovery.”
Stepping into her new role at Innovo Detox’s Clinical Supervisor, Denise will join the Innovo Detox leadership team, and manage the clinical operations, programming, and clinical staff. Providing both ongoing supervision for the Innovo Detox team of clinicians, as well as delivering direct clinical care to the Innovo Detox patients, she will ensure that Innovo Detox continues to deliver high quality, comprehensive, evidence-based clinical approaches and therapeutic modalities to the patients during the early stage of their recovery journeys. As an addiction treatment center, it is vital that Innovo Detox offers the latest in cutting edge care for patients suffering from both addiction and mental health issues.
